08:00 PDT 21 May , 2024 — The time has come, puny insects. The award-winning System Shock remake, based on the iconic 1994 sci-fi action game, is available now worldwide on consoles.

Nightdive Studios’ stunningly faithful recreation of the classic shooter/immersive sim was released to critical acclaim in 2023 for PC.

Now, console players can go toe-to-toe with SHODAN — the original rogue AI with evil intent — on PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S as they explore the dark depths of Citadel Station and singlehandedly try and save Earth from destruction.

The System Shock remake combines the gameplay of the original title with all-new HD visuals, updated controls, an overhauled interface and all-new sounds and music.

Nightdive Studios worked closely with many of the original System Shock team members, including Terri Brosius, the original voice of one of gaming’s most iconic villains: SHODAN.

“For the first time ever, the incredible world of System Shock is available to console gamers,” said Stephen Kick, CEO of Nightdive Studios. “We’re so excited to introduce our take on this pioneering piece of gaming history to a whole new audience.”

System Shock Key Features:

  • Unravel the chilling story of SHODAN's rise and explore the mysteries of Citadel Station, piecing together the truth in this atmospheric sci-fi world

  • Face perilous traps, puzzles and a legion of hostile and mutated creatures;  created and controlled by the villainous SHODAN herself

  • Up to 4K 60FPS visuals on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X

  • The console release features a newly reworked ending that upgrades the final confrontation with SHODAN.

  • Choose between a male or female-presenting Hacker protagonist

  • Redesigned controls to support PlayStation and Xbox gamepads

The console release of System Shock features numerous improvements, including a revised ending, an optional female hacker protagonist, an easy mission difficulty mode waypoint system, enhanced enemy encounters (including new attacks and behaviours) and updated game balancing.

System Shock is now available for purchase in digital formats for PlayStation 4|5 and Xbox One and Series X|S and in physical format for current generation consoles at local retailers.

System Shock is also available for Windows PC via Steam (and is Steam Deck Playable), Epic Game Store, GOG and the Humble Store
