My way is the highway… travels in the X Universe

Space must be BIG. Really big. But then, you also want short travel times and stations humming with life. How can we do that in a space game, Space Sim Developers Egosoft asked themselves?

“The solution we found for X Rebirth is a system of highways, connecting different zones and solar systems. Local highways allow you to travel fast to reach all popular areas of the universe, yet they can be left anywhere in the middle to allow endless exploration”, says Egosoft’s Managing Director Bernd Lehahn. For interplanetary distances, superhighways are the way to go. They connect different Sectors and link them to a System (e.g. a Solar System). Highways work with different local accelerators for the player ship and bring the most interesting parts of the Universe closer together. With so many travel advantages, you can bet that you are not the only one using them…

Shortly after the events of X3: Albion Prelude, the X Universe began to change and the jump gates of old failed. Thanks to the invention of space highways, massive changes suddenly became possible. Much bigger settlements grew in the Universe and a lot of the formerly planet bound economy could now be moved into space too. You will also use your long-range scanner for Universe exploration.
